Bongekile “Babes Wodumo” GQOM is not dead.
Nondumiso Simelane, Babes Wodumo’s sister-manager, and Babes Wodumo assured fans on Facebook that she is fine and alive.
This assurance came after a fake account using Bongeka Queen’s name spread the news that Babes Wodumo had died on social media.
The phony message said, “Rest in peace, Wodumo.”

Babes has dismissed the message, writing: “Guys, I’m well and alive. Someone wants me dead and is spreading a rumour that I’m dead. Guys, I can assure you that I am well and alive.”
Her supporters sympathised with her and said she has a lot to live for.
“We love you Babes,” UNaathie Nutty Lumko comforted her. They are afraid because they know no one will replace you. We still need you, and God will protect and keep you safe. You still have a lot to accomplish. “KZN adores you.”
“Mxm people are bored, but they don’t mind,” Kerwin Wade said. Just concentrate on yourself, your baby boy, and your music, Babes.”
“We love you dear, you have your son to live for, and don’t stop praying,” Thakani Nkosi Mdaka said. Seasons will pass us by. Be more powerful than before.”
Babes was reported to be ill in June. Her sister Nondumiso and close friends confirmed to the Daily Sun that she was ill at the time.
Nondumiso told Daily Sun at the time that Babes was struggling to breathe due to asthma. As a result, she was taken to the hospital. She was reportedly unable to attend Durban July events due to illness.
Nondumiso and Babes were contacted by Daily Sun but did not respond. They did not respond to text messages either.
