Connie Chiume, who plays the wicked MamSonto in ‘Gomora,’ has left the Mzansi Magic soap.
MamSonto, played by veteran actress Connie Chiume, left DStv’s most-watched drama Gomora this week.
Connie Chiume, who plays MamSonto in Gomora and is a former Rythm City actress, said to TshisaLIVE that she will miss the folks she worked with.
Chiume noted that after four years of working together, Gomora’s cast and crew became a big family since they bonded and got to know one another.
The actress also stated that she will miss the team they worked with, from the actors to the crew, and that they worked with highly competent individuals. They made certain that the written stories appeared exactly as they do on television.
“That’s why Gomora, even after four years as it is ending, it is still on the number one spot.”
The veteran actress also said she enjoyed playing the villainous character [MamSonto] that was unfamiliar to her.
M-Net announced Gomora will expire in October 2023, according to TVSA, as they seek to keep up with changing consumer viewership preferences.
Shirley Adonisi, M-Net’s Director of Local Entertainment Channels, stated that the company is committed to providing the greatest content to its consumers and must be responsive to their evolving demands and tastes.
The telenovela executive producer Leanne Khumalo from Seriti Films production revealed that they’ve had an incredible journey, paved with many special milestones and memories.
Khumalo added that the show debuted on 30 March 2020 on the brink of lockdow, they formed a special bond and grew into a family and this power dynamic was shared and experienced on screen.
