DJ Sbu and TK Nciza Named in Ekurhuleni Allegations as They Deny Any Wrongdoing
Suspended City of Ekurhuleni legal head Advocate Kemi Behari has made serious allegations before the Madlanga Commission, naming well-known media personality Sbusiso “DJ Sbu” Leope and businessman and former Gauteng ANC Provincial Secretary Thembinkosi “TK” Nciza. The claims have drawn significant public attention, with both men firmly denying any involvement in wrongdoing and calling for due process to take its course.
According to testimony presented at the commission, Behari alleged that certain investigations within the municipality were halted under pressure from influential individuals. Among the matters reportedly affected was a case involving a senior municipal manager identified as Mojapelo. Behari claimed that attempts to summon individuals connected to the matter, including DJ Sbu and Nciza, were stopped before they could proceed, raising concerns about possible political or administrative interference.
The Madlanga Commission, which is tasked with examining governance and administrative issues within the City of Ekurhuleni, is expected to evaluate evidence and testimony from multiple parties before making any findings. At this stage, the allegations remain claims presented during proceedings, and no final conclusions have been announced.
Behari himself has also come under scrutiny in a separate matter. Reports presented during the inquiry indicated that he allegedly received a payment described as a “loyalty bonus” amounting to R600,000. The payment is said to be linked to a decision to halt disciplinary proceedings involving suspended Deputy Police Chief Julius Mkhwanazi. These claims are likewise part of ongoing processes and have not yet been tested through a final ruling.
Following the public circulation of the allegations, DJ Sbu issued a detailed statement rejecting the accusations made against him and Nciza. The radio presenter and entrepreneur described the claims as false, misleading, and without factual foundation. He emphasised that neither he nor Nciza had engaged in any unlawful conduct or benefited improperly from municipal dealings.
In his response, Leope stated that throughout his career in broadcasting, business, and community development, he has aimed to operate with transparency and respect for the law. He expressed concern that the allegations could be part of attempts to shift attention away from other internal issues within the municipality by involving well-known public figures.
Leope further stated that he has never participated in any illegal activity, nor has he influenced administrative or legal processes inappropriately. He said that any suggestion that he benefited from corrupt activities is a fabrication. The media personality also noted that he intends to protect his reputation and may consider legal remedies if the claims continue to circulate without substantiated evidence.
In his message to the public, Leope encouraged media organisations and members of the public to verify information carefully and avoid sharing unconfirmed allegations that could harm individuals’ reputations. He added that he remains committed to his work in broadcasting and entrepreneurship, as well as initiatives focused on job creation and community upliftment.
Leope also indicated that he is willing to cooperate fully with any lawful investigation related to the matter. He said he supports processes that are grounded in fairness, transparency, and credible evidence, expressing confidence that the truth will emerge through proper legal channels.

Nciza has also previously maintained that he conducts his business activities within the framework of the law, although detailed comments from him regarding the specific allegations at the commission have not been widely reported at this stage.
The situation highlights ongoing concerns about governance challenges within local government structures, as well as the importance of investigative commissions in examining claims of misconduct. Such inquiries typically involve extensive evidence gathering, witness testimony, and legal review before any formal findings or recommendations are issued.
As proceedings continue, officials, investigators, and those named in testimony are expected to provide further information that may clarify the circumstances surrounding the allegations. Until the commission completes its work and releases its conclusions, the claims remain part of an active investigative process.
Observers note that cases of this nature often take time to resolve due to the complexity of financial records, administrative procedures, and competing testimonies. For now, both DJ Sbu and TK Nciza maintain that they have done nothing wrong and have expressed their willingness to participate in any processes necessary to clear their names.
The outcome of the Madlanga Commission’s investigation will likely play a key role in determining whether any further action is taken, either administratively or legally. In the meantime, stakeholders have emphasised the importance of allowing the inquiry to proceed without interference so that any findings are based on verified facts and due process.
