Muvhango’s lead actor Gabriel Temudzani revealed just over a month ago that he was leaving the show permanently after 23 years on the air.
Fans of the show were outraged that the actor’s contract had expired. Some speculated that the “exit” could have been a public relations trick.
On Wednesday’s episode, Chief Azwindini miraculously reappeared after being killed by his arch-rival Tenda.
Muvhango told TshisaLIVE that Gabriel would be returning to the soap show.
“We are delighted to announce that Chief Azwindini has returned to Muvhango following his departure in May.” We have received an enormous response from viewers who are excited about his comeback, and we appreciate their constant support.”
He recently congratulated fans of the show on his Instagram account.
“Indoda must have a total of nine lives.” Azwindini has returned to Muvhango due to popular demand. Because of the public outrage. “The audience has power,” he wrote.
He previously told TshisaLIVE that his character and Muvhango would not exist if it weren’t for the viewers.
“We can say whatever we want, but the show is made by the viewers.” If the spectators aren’t there, we might as well close up shop and go home. The viewers have had an important role in the work we do and the world we live in. So congratulations to the viewers, and may they continue to watch and enjoy the show, seeing value in what it gives to the people, particularly in South Africa.
“I believe Muvhango is one of those shows that we must guard and protect because it gives us hope that, despite our differences, we can coexist and that is something to celebrate.”
