Innocent Sadiki and Millicent Mashile have spoken out about the emotional impact their parents’ deaths had on them.
In a recent interview on their YouTube channel, the twins discussed losing their mother when they were four years old and their father when they were teenagers.
The media personalities went on to speak on how their mother was just 26 years old. They were not certain about the cause of her death as they had been told she got electrocuted.
“It caused a lot of trauma for me. The first couple of years as a child, I don’t remember them at all. The only memories I have are of me in my 20s. Now that we are older, we have so many questions that are unanswered,” Millicent said.
“I remember being terrified at 25. I thought to myself, “I’m going to die at 26.” That, in my opinion, is the end of life. When my children turned four, I did the same thing. “They’re not going to have a mother,” I thought.
Innocent also stated that the mental anguish induced by her parents’ deaths made it difficult for her to recollect her background.
“I’m suffering from memory loss as well.” That didn’t occur to me until I was married and had children. I recognize my mother from a photograph, but not as a person. “I have no recollection of my mother.”
