In a shocking turn of events, Isitha actor Sipho Ndlovu has taken legal action against a woman who claimed she was allegedly assaulted by the actor earlier this week. Ndlovu, well-known for his portrayal of a character on the popular TV series The Wife, has fiercely denied the allegations and opened a case at the Douglasdale police station in Johannesburg on Wednesday evening.
Speaking to the Sunday World, Ndlovu adamantly refuted the claims made by the woman, Thandeka Mhlanga, on her social media platforms. He stated that Mhlanga had not actually opened a case against him, as she had initially claimed. In fact, Ndlovu revealed that Mhlanga was later fetched by the police from her workplace on Thursday morning.
Ndlovu further explained that before the police intervention, Mhlanga had attempted to trick him into apologizing, which is when he realized that she had not filed a formal complaint as she had stated on social media. “I never assaulted her. And if you can check the pictures that she posted, you will see it does not reflect what she said on social media,” Ndlovu asserted.
The actor provided a detailed account of the incident, stating that Mhlanga had claimed to have driven to his place and then been blocked from entering his house, where she was allegedly slapped and pushed down. However, Ndlovu refuted these claims, stating that security footage shows Mhlanga climbing the wall of the gate, contradicting her narrative.
Ndlovu expressed his frustration with the situation, stating, “We are dealing with someone who is bitter and wants to destroy my name with something so sensitive and serious like gender-based violence. You cannot use such just because you are hurt and lie about being assaulted. She was caught on the wall.”
Furthermore, the security guard on duty on the evening in question is said to have also opened a case of assault, claiming that he was assaulted by Mhlanga.
Gauteng Police spokesperson Colonel Noxolo Kweza confirmed the matter to the publication, stating that a case of common assault, crimen injuria, and defamation of character was opened. “The suspect has been arrested and will be taken to Randburg court on Friday,” Kweza added.
This case highlights the sensitive and complex nature of gender-based violence allegations and the need for thorough investigations to ensure justice is served. As the legal proceedings unfold, it will be crucial to follow the developments and understand the nuances of this case, which has the potential to set an important precedent in how such allegations are handled.
