Kelly Khumalo, an Afro-pop powerhouse, told police that her ex-boyfriend and child’s father, Molemo “Jub Jub” Maarohanye, r@ped her and nearly killed her.
This occurred in a series of domestic violence incidents that occurred more than a decade ago, according to the singer.
Kelly Khumalo stated that she became pregnant with Maarohanye’s son in 2009 and moved in with the popular TV host in 2010.
According to Sunday World : She told the police when the Uyajola 99 host was released from jail on bail after an accident in which several school kids were killed in Soweto, they visited friends in Rivonia.
While there, Khumalo told the police, the couple engaged in an argument. The rapper pushed her against the wall and strangled her, all this while she was about eight months pregnant, she revealed. After the fight, she started experiencing serious abdominal pains and had to be treated at the Sandton Clinic.
Khumalo told the cops a second incident occurred when Maarohanye came to pick her up after filming for Rhythm City in June 2010. She alleged the rapper found her outside of the studio with co-actors, and accused her of having a relationship with one of them. Upon arriving at their residence, Maarohanye slapped her, according to a police official.
For the sake of their newborn, the rapper later apologized and Khumalo forgave him.
According to Khumalo, Maarohanye punched her so hard that she hit a door frame and injured her nose after a while in 2010. According to the cops, Maarohanye hit her with his fist on her lip in another incident in 2010, leaving a scar that she still has today.
“She said they then went to a doctor in Bassonia to have her lip stitched,” said the cop. In another incident in 2010, the rapper assaulted her again after she had gone to attend to their child who was crying. This after Maarohanye complained she was giving the baby more attention than to him.
“She said this resulted in her son, who was just three months old, sustaining a scratch on his forehead,” according to the cop. The cop further said Khumalo alleged that her baby-daddy also assaulted her mother and her sister at their family home in Vosloorus, east of Johannesburg.
“She claimed to be at her mother’s house when Jub Jub demanded her bank card and car keys. When she refused, he hit her on the head with a glass.
“The fight escalated when her mother and sister tried to protect her,” the cop explained. An ambulance [crew] was dispatched to treat the incisions caused by the glass, from which she still has a scar.
“She went on to say that Jub Jub would even spit in her face and call her derogatory and vulgar names.” According to the cop, Khumalo also claimed that the Uyajola 99 host raped her in 2012 after she refused to have sex with him.
“She claimed Jub Jub suffocated her with a pillow.” He was raping her with the pillow on her face. Kelly stated that when he was finished, he removed the pillow and left for his court appearance.”
According to the cop, Khumalo told police that her baby-daddy beat her up again in 2012 while she and the child were visiting his home.”Jub Jub began accusing her of cheating and beat her on the face, leaving her with a scar to this day.
