‘Jesus is coming, and the earthquake was a manifestation of the word,’ says gospel singer Kholeka.
According to those who were able to record it, the Gauteng earthquake on Sunday lasted less than 30 seconds.
Kholeka Dubula, a gospel singer, says it felt like a lifetime. She was in the thick of it, right in the middle of the earthquake in Boksburg.
“I was at home with four children,” she explains to Drum.
“I was fast asleep when it happened, and my bed started shaking.” Then I noticed my globe’s cover was broken and on the ground. The kids also awoke and rushed to me, and I suggested we go to the kitchen.
“It was like nothing I had ever experienced before. The house was shaking and moving from left to right. There was a lot of noise because the birds were chirping, dogs were barking and the house and car alarms were also going off, all at the same time. There are mines all over Boksburg, Germiston and Springs, so I was scared that the house would just fall into the ground and get swallowed by the earth.
“Growing up, I had experienced an earthquake before, in Nqadu, Eastern Cape. I must have been 10 or 11 years old. But it was nothing like this. All we heard then, was glasses and cups shaking in the cupboards.
She contacted her insurance company, and they will send someone to her home for an assessment.
Kholeka claims to be a born-again Christian and that what happened over the weekend was a manifestation of God’s word.
“It’s all in the Bible.” The books of Matthew and Revelation describe the end times. There are warring nations, children are murdering their mothers, and earthquakes occur. All of these are signs of the end times.
“At the time, I was praying aloud to God, asking him to remember that there are still people who love and serve him.” So that if he was destroying the world, he would remember us in the same way that he remembered Lot and his family when he was destroying Sodom and Gomorrah, as well as Noah and his family when he brought the flood.
“I truly believe that God was reminding us that he is in control and that he can do anything he wants to this earth in the blink of an eye.”
She claims that this experience has restored her fear of God.
“Experts claim it was an earthquake, but I believe it was God reminding us that he is ‘I am that I am.'” We see these things on TV and feel sorry for the people in places like Turkey, Haiti, and Asia, but God has reminded us that he has the power to destroy all of this if he so desires.
“It is time for Christians to stand up for the truth, to open our mouths, and to preach the unfiltered gospel.” “Jesus is on his way, and this earthquake was a sign of Matthew 24.”
