Minnie Dlamini says she was financially supporting her ex-husband Quinton Jones during their marriage.
Celebrity relationships often seem like fairy tales, filled with glamour and luxury. However, behind the scenes, the reality can be quite different. In a surprising revelation, South African television personality Minnie Dlamini recently opened up about her marriage to Quinton Jones, sharing that she was the primary financial provider during their time together.
This unexpected disclosure sheds light on the complexities of modern relationships and challenges the traditional gender roles that persist in our society.
Minnie Dlamini is a well-known figure in South Africa, celebrated for her work in the entertainment industry as a television presenter, actress, and model. Her rise to fame was meteoric, and she quickly became a household name. Her marriage to Quinton Jones in 2017 garnered significant attention, with fans eager to witness the union of two prominent individuals.
In a recent interview with a popular South African magazine, Minnie Dlamini revealed that she was the primary breadwinner during her marriage to Quinton Jones. She spoke candidly about how she financed their lavish lifestyle, which was often on full display on social media and in the public eye. This confession came as a surprise to many, as public perceptions of their relationship had been quite different
Dlamini’s revelation challenges traditional gender norms, which often dictate that the man should be the primary provider in a marriage. By openly discussing her role as the primary financial contributor, Dlamini highlights the evolving dynamics of modern relationships. In doing so, she sends a powerful message that partnerships can take many forms and should not be defined by societal expectations.
At the beginning of the 32-minute interview, Dambuza asks Dlamini if he can be her Ben Ten (younger boyfriend), to which Dlamini responds: “I can totally do the rich auntie vibe”.
In March 2023, Dlamini opened up about the failed marriage in an interview with 702 presenter Relebogile Mabotja during her afternoon talk show.
“I felt like I had to reduce myself in so many ways, and I wasn’t able to live the best version of myself,” she said at the time.
“I feel like a marriage should never be something that clips your wings, but should be something that allows you to grow a second pair.”
She added that she had ignored the red flags in her relationship.
“In relationships, you always know, you know when you look back, that was a red flag,” she said, adding that she was not to blame.
