The recent allegations made by controversial blogger Musa Khawula regarding a purported romantic relationship between media personality Minnie Dlamini and the late Nkateko Mabaso, a former executive at MultiChoice, have sparked a fiery response from Dlamini.
Mabaso, who played a pivotal role in the success of productions like Isibaya and major events such as the DStv Mzansi Viewers’ Choice Awards, passed away on June 19th due to an undisclosed illness. The nature of the relationship between Dlamini and Mabaso remains a subject of speculation and debate, with Dlamini reportedly refuting the claims made by Khawula.
Musa Khawula wrote:
“Minnie Dlamini’s lover Nkateko Mabaso has passed away. Minnie Dlamini cheated on Quinton Jones with Nkateko Mabaso. Nkateko Mabaso was a CEO of M-Net before he was appointed as Netflix director of licensing and co-productions for Africa. Nkateko Mabaso had used his position/s to set Minnie Dlamini up with jobs at DSTV,”
Hitting back in an X post, Minnie said: “I thought you said I cheated with Edwin Sodi? Now it’s Nkateko Mabaso? Which one is it? Who is next? Let it go bro damn. This is incredibly disrespectful to my friend’s family and his memory. People are mourning you have no shame!”
The public scrutiny surrounding the personal life of The Honeymoon actress has been a topic of much discussion. In February 2022, allegations surfaced that she had been involved in an extramarital affair with a businessman accused of corruption, Edwin Sodi. These claims came to light shortly after the actress and her then-husband announced their decision to divorce.
In response, the couple issued a joint statement, firmly denying the rumors and describing them as “baseless” and “damaging.” They also threatened to take legal action, underscoring their commitment to protecting their privacy and reputation amidst the media’s intense focus on their private matters. The ongoing saga serves as a reminder of the challenges faced by public figures as they navigate the complexities of their personal lives in the glare of the public eye.
“We have been made aware of various allegations regarding our divorce circulating on social media since yesterday. Without saying much more, all the allegations made are false, damaging, and malicious.Fabrications of such a damaging manner are both unnecessary and hurtful in a matter that is already sensitive to us.
“Our shared priority is to remain friends and co-parent our son. We kindly ask that you allow us to go through our private processes without dragging ourselves, our families, and our loved ones into baseless rumours and social media sensationalism. These baseless rumours affect not only us, but our child.Considering the nature of the allegations made, legal action will be taken against the relevant parties,” read the statement.
