It’s almost time to name a new Miss South Africa! Seven finalists will compete for the title of Miss SA at the pageant’s finale on Sunday, August 13 at Sun Bet Arena at Time Square Casino in Pretoria.
For the third time, media personality Bonang Matheba will host the contest. Miss South Africa 2022, Ndavi Nokeri, will hand over the title to her successor. The finale will air on SABC (DStv channel 193) at 18:30 on Sunday, August 13th.
Crown Chasers, a Miss South Africa reality show, featured the Top 12 contestants competing for seven positions. Each week of the five-week competition, one finalist was eliminated.
The top seven are:
- Anke Rothmann (23) from the Northern Cape
- Bryoni Govender (26) from Gauteng
- Homba Mazaleni (23) from the Eastern Cape
- Jordan van der Vyver (27), from the Western Cape
- Melissa Nayimuli (27) from the Eastern Cape
- Nande Mabala (25), from the Western Cape
- Natasha Joubert (25) from Gauteng
The five judges:
- Reigning Miss Universe- R’Bonney Nola Gabriel
- Actress and model Leandie du Randt
- South African-born actressThuso Mbedu
- Investigative journalist Devi Sankaree Govender
- Former Miss SA (2000) Jo-Ann Strauss
For the first time this year, married women and mothers were allowed to enter. Van der Vyver is the only remaining contestant who is married.
This year’s finalists were narrowed down through Miss South Africa’s five-part reality series, Crown Chasers, aired on SABC 3.
