Brilliant actor Mpho Sebeng and acclaimed actress Nthati Moshesh take the spotlight in Showmax’s 016 FM.TshisaLIVE has revealed that actor Mpho Sebeng tragically passed away on Sunday, 5 May, shortly after securing the role of DJ Whisky in 016 FM.
In his recent interview, Sebeng humorously described DJ Whisky as a person who thrives in the spotlight and has an insatiable desire to be at the top. Sebeng says DJ Whiskey is “someone who likes the limelight and wants to be number one”.
“What piqued my interest about 016FM is that it is a story that is about the Vaal. I feel like there haven’t been many stories that have shed a light on this particular part of the country. The Vaal is such a melting pot of culture, fashion and language, which was something I was drawn to while doing my research about the area,” said the actor.
He humorously mentions that he fully embraced the pop cultural movement in the Vaal as part of his preparation for the role.In addition to his impressive career, the late star had quite the knack for finding entertainment online, indulging in countless videos and skits. He had a knack for seeking out skits created by individuals from the Vaal region, capturing their everyday antics with a mischievous charm.
“I immersed myself in understanding the movement to have a better understanding of the character. I had to take time to hang around with the locals, specially the people who started the culture of ama-Italiana and izikhothane,” he said
Joseph Sedibo and Mpho Sebeng team up in the Showmax Original drama series, 016 FM, where Sedibo plays the role of DJ Tsietsi.According to OK Mzansi, the show revolves around two DJs with completely different personalities who team up to rescue their cherished radio station.
