Reflecting on this long-awaited meeting, Nadia Nakai described it as a truly wholesome and positive experience.
Despite the years of separation, she expressed that she harbored no anger or resentment, as she had been fortunate to have a loving and nurturing upbringing with her mother.
“I actually met him recently, after 33 years. It was actually a good meeting, it was wholesome, it was nice. I didn’t have any anger or resentment because I feel like I lived a good life with my mom. She raised me well, so I don’t feel like I was losing anything,” Nadia Nakai shared.
Nadia Nakai claimed that her decision to see her father was motivated by a desire to find herself in the middle of life’s craziness. She felt compelled to go on this path of reconnecting with her roots because of numerous hardships and a desire for self-reflection.
“I think I just wanted to meet him because I was going through a lot in my life.” Things were chaotic, and I needed to rediscover myself, to center myself.
“I even went to Zimbabwe to see my grandmother.” That’s how it all began. It was just too much for me to see my grandmother. “That was a part of my healing process,” she explained.
