Thabo Bester’s co-accused and rumoured girlfriend Nandipha Magudumana has been accused of exploiting public sympathy for the second time.
The celebrity aesthetics doctor appeared sad and sorrowful in a bail hearing on Tuesday, August 29.
Cameras zoomed in on her as tears streamed down her cheeks.
Nandipha Magudumana appeared alone in the dock during her bail application at the Bloemfontein Magistrates Court.
The mother-of-two and ten others – including Thabo Bester – are accused of helping the latter escape the Mangaung Correctional Centre last year.
But unlike her previous appearance, where she held hands and looked lovingly in Bester’s eyes, the prominent businesswoman appeared sad and dejected this time.
Magudumana kept her eyes down as her bail application was read in court, despite her flawless makeup and sophisticated hairstyle.
There were no smiles or waves in the audience. Instead, Nandipha sobbed as her attorney claimed that Bester had “forced” her to do so.
Nandipha’s appearance comes just days after she claims that she was abused by many men in her life, possibly including Thabo Bester.
A WhatsApp voicenote from Thabo Bester went viral shortly after Nandipha’s arrest in Tanzania.
Bester appears to be verbally abusing and threatening to “kill” his coworker in the audio clip.
Just a few days later, the Sunday World reported that Bester allegedly assaulted Nandipha at her birthday party in September of last year. Bester slapped Nandipha in front of her family and friends, according to two witnesses.
However, in the eyes of the public, her loving behavior toward the convicted rapist and murderer called the above incidents into question.
Although Nandipha’s intention in court on Tuesday was to appear helpless and sad, many social media users claimed they saw through her apparent facade.
Personality in the entertainment industry “I bet Dr Nandipha watches all the media coverage around her,” Phil Mphela tweeted. She must have noticed the body language analysis surrounding her previous appearance.
