Sibonile Ngubane is a South African actor and musician best known for his role as Mbovu in the Mzansi Magic soap opera Isibaya.The actor has been enjoying the limelight since 1993, when he started acting and performing. Most of his acting gigs are for stage productions, and his TV debut only comes 26 years later.
Active in theatre and musical theatre, he has worked on numerous productions with Mbongeni Ngema as a percussionist and actor, including roles in Sarafina!, Lion of the East and Ipi Ntombi.
Sibonile made his television acting debut in Isibaya in the role of Ngubane elder Mbovu, first credited in Season 5, Episode 113, which aired on August 16, 2017.He continued to play the role until the show was discontinued in 2021.
The following year, he had a role in the Mzansi Magic made-for-TV movie Isibonakaliso, which aired as part of the channel’s “Lokshin Bioskop” strand of telefilms for the first time on July 7, 2018. It also later aired on Mzansi Wethu.
He next landed another major recurring role, this time as crooked businessman Khathazamanyamadoda Khanyile in the SABC1 soap opera Uzalo, first appearing in Season 5, Episode 52 (which aired on April 17, 2019).
A role on the SABC3 telenovela The Estate followed when he was cast as Buzani Phakathwayo, first appearing in the series premiere on April 5, 2021.
Less than a week later, he debuted on the 1Magic drama series The Station in an episode that aired on April 10 (Season 1, Episode 2). The series also aired on Mzansi Magic.
Sibonile next appeared in another “Lokshin Bioskop” film on Mzansi Magic called Wa Lepelle, which debuted on the channel on June 12, 2021.Later that year, he landed his first starring role on television when he was cast in the Mzansi Magic Sunday night drama series Umkhokha, which premiered on October 3, 2021.
He has been in the entertainment industry for a long time, but the actor is all hush-hush when it comes to his bank balance. Sibonile seems to be living his life, however, as his music and acting careers keep soaring.
