Princess McDonald, a former contestant on Idols SA season 19 and a singer, was left traumatized when burglars invaded her home in Kempton Park and stole valuable belongings. Recounting the incident to ZiMoja, she expressed how the intrusion into her personal space felt like a violation since she had never experienced robbery or assault before, according to Zimoja
During the event, which took place at approximately 4:30 pm while she was alone at home, Princess explained that despite living with someone, the absence of her housemate meant she had to use a remote control to enter the property. The two intruders managed to enter the premises and knocked on her door.
Upon inquiring about their presence and attempting to verify their identity, the robbers claimed they were looking for an unfamiliar individual. Swiftly, they forced their way past the burglar gate after a brief exchange.
Despite feeling alarmed by the situation, Princess complied with the robbers’ instructions. They proceeded to open the security door and instructed her to stay calm in the room, assuring her they wouldn’t cause harm. Subsequently, they proceeded to steal her mobile phone, television, and other valuable items.
Reflecting on the incident, Princess noted her shock at the targeted intrusion into the main living quarters, as opposed to the tenant-occupied portion at the rear of the property. She expressed a sense of vulnerability, suspecting the robbers had specific objectives and were well-prepared for the burglary, leaving her feeling unsafe in her own home.
The uncertainty and fear stemming from the ordeal prompted Princess to report the incident to the authorities. She lodged a formal complaint at the Norkem Park Police Station, highlighting the distressing nature of the experience and the lingering apprehensions about her safety.
