Hey there, telenovela fans! Grab your popcorn and get ready to binge, because the beloved series Queendom is making a triumphant return to our screens! After a bit of a hiccup with production due to some financial troubles, it seems this royal drama is back in business, and we couldn’t be more excited!
For those who might be out of the loop, Queendom used to air daily on BET, captivating viewers with its mix of drama, romance, and jaw-dropping twists. Unfortunately, production came to a standstill after a potential investor left the team hanging just a few months ago. So, what happened? According to executive producer Clive Morris, things got a little dicey when they couldn’t raise the funds to pay their amazing cast and crew. Can you believe some of the talent went unpaid for two months? That’s a serious morale buster!
But don’t fret, because just when it seemed like things were hopeless, a financial company swooped in like a superhero to save the day last month! Morris has assured us that production is back on track and they are in pre-production mode, working diligently to get the scripts ready. While that’s all sweetness and light, there are a few bumps in the road: not all cast and crew members are returning. Some have moved on to other projects, which means we might see some fresh faces along with our beloved regulars when the show finally airs again.
On the topic of who’s coming back (and who isn’t), Morris played it close to the vest when speaking to City Press. He teased that we’ll have to wait until the show starts up again to get the full scoop. And let’s be real, who doesn’t love a bit of suspense? He did drop the name of Mduduzi Mabaso, confirming that he has wrapped up his role in Queendom as he’s now gracing our screens on House of Zwide. We’re also seeing talents like Sindi Dlathu and Themba Ndaba branching out to work with Black Brain Pictures on the new drama Isiphetho, which just started airing on e.tv.
Enhle Mbali Mlothswa joins the show and will portray Lindiwe Mkhwanazi. She is a passionate advocate for women’s boxing and the COO of the South African Boxing Federation.“Taking on the role of Lindiwe Mkhwanazi has been an incredibly empowering experience for me. Pound 4 Pound is a story that breaks the mould. It challenges the ceiling of what female potential is perceived to be in society, proving that it is truly limitless. I hope this story resonates with viewers and sparks conversations about the power of resilience. As well as the boundless strength of women,” said Mlotshwa.
One person who’s particularly excited about Queendom’s comeback is the fantastic Linda Mtoba, who seems to be ready to bring on the drama! And honestly, can you blame her? We’ve all been eagerly awaiting the return of the series since it stepped off the stage.
So mark your calendars, folks—Queendom is set to reign supreme once again starting September 23rd at 18:30 on BET! Grab your friends and settle in for an evening full of drama, intrigue, and, of course, lots and lots of regal moments. Are you ready? Because we sure are!
