Eish! Rasta has been accused of “sabotaging a beautiful moment” after painting three-year-old Lethukukhanya of Albany.
Rasta is a South African artist. Lebani Thaka is the artist’s true name. David Sirenje has grown in popularity throughout the years. This is due to the fact that his portraits, which are usually tributes to local legends, make people chuckle.
He has once again left many people tickled pink after deciding to paint the viral Albany bread girl, who went viral after a local photographer photographed her buying the bread.
As is customary, several commenters criticized Rasta for his work, which, by their standards, was substandard.
With a simple snapshot, three-year-old Lethukukhanya Mjaji, dubbed the Albany child, has captured the hearts of millions.
Lethukukhanya, who was snapped by Lungisani Mjaji while walking from a local shop with a loaf of Albany bread, became popular after the photo was circulated on social media.
Soon after, the Tiger Brands firm arrived at her house with gifts such as a gas stove for her mother, blankets, lunch boxes, and hampers.
Deciding to strike while the story is still trending, popular local artist Rasta decided to recreate the viral photo using a blank canvas and his paint brushes.
Heading to Twitter, he shared snaps of his work which he captioned, “Imihla lemihla sicelane isinkwa sangemihla yonke. Lethukukhanya siyabonga uthando lenjabulo (Every day, we give each other daily bread.. Lethukukhanya, we thank you for our light, love and happiness.)
“Beautiful to see our African brothers and young sisters telling original African stories through art.”
Unfortunately for Rasta, many people believe he has missed the mark yet again. There were a few complimentary words for the artist in the comments area.
“Ai Ai Ai Rasta, you really know how to spoil a beautiful moment Mara wena Yaz Aiman,” one individual said.
