About the Role
The Consultant: Pre-Assessment is a vital position within the RAF’s Claims Division. The role focuses on the initial evaluation of claims applications to ensure compliance with organizational and legal standards. With 11 positions available, this is an excellent opportunity for candidates passionate about claims management and road safety to contribute to a meaningful public service.
Salary: R434,656.00 per annum
Key Responsibilities
- Pre-assessment of claims: Accurately record submitted documentation and evaluate claimed benefits and products.
- Compliance evaluation: Ensure submissions meet lodgement and compliance criteria as per defined processes.
- Duplicate and linked claims identification: Detect any duplicated or related claims that may impact processing.
- Application of prescription rules: Verify claim timeliness and mortality information with Home Affairs to prevent fraud.
- Communication: Notify claimants of pre-assessment outcomes with transparency and clarity.
- Quality assurance: Maintain high standards by implementing unusual occurrence procedures and adhering to RAF quality protocols.
Administrative and Reporting Duties
- Efficiently document acknowledged claims.
- Manage correspondence and prepare reports, briefing papers, and presentations.
- Assist in editing technical documents and letters.
- Track and report on objectives, targets, and emerging risks.
- Provide ad hoc reports to support process improvements.
Stakeholder Management
- Build and maintain professional relationships with stakeholders.
- Respond to queries within predefined turnaround times for efficient claim handling.
Qualifications and Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree or Advanced Diploma in a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience in a claims environment.
Essential Skills and Competencies
- Knowledge of RAF products and the Motor Vehicle Act/Accident Legislation.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Financial management expertise.
- Attention to detail and compliance adherence.
- Effective planning, organizing, and coordination abilities.
- High levels of personal mastery, judgement, ethics, and client service orientation.
- Familiarity with the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA) is advantageous.
