Sannah Mchunu (born March 19, 1972) is a South African actress. She rose to prominence as Nomarashiya in the SABC2 soap drama Muvhango.
She has evolved into one of the entertainment industry’s most renowned individuals. Many budding and aspiring stars look up to someone like Sannah for inspiration.
The experienced actress has also acted in a variety of other television shows. In the Mzansi drama series Gomora, she played Zodwa. She rose to notoriety after acting in several local television programs around the country.
Sannah Mchunu born in Mofolo North in Soweto, Gauteng. Though she hails from a humble family and beginnings, though she has changed the narrative. The list of prominent South African celebrities is incomplete without her name boldly written.
As a young child, she refused to follow the instructions and warnings from her parents. Along the line, she became an expectant mother. As a teenager of nineteen years and a student in high school, Sannah already had two children.
Many people who enjoy watching television would recall the character Nomarashiya whenever the actress appears on the screen. She played the part in the SABC soap drama Muvhango. Mchunu was also cast in the 2013 Mzansi Magic miniseries Vuka Mawulele as Grace Letsoalo.
She also played a variety of parts in eKasi: Our Stories. She has also appeared in a number of television productions, including the soap opera Generations, Hope, and Isibaya. She also appeared in the films Keeping Score, Rhythm City, and Ring of Lies.
As an actress, she also appeared in dramas like Ihawu, End Game, and It’s Complicated. More acting credits include making appearances in docu-series like Amagugu and Ngempela. She played the role of Rebecca in Gauteng Maboneng, MaGumede in Ses’Top La, and Sibu in Shabangu P.I.
She entered into a marital union at a very young age but it was unbearable because of the domestic violence she suffered. Sannah was abused for 9 years by her partner until she decided to expose the act. Next, she left the marriage
Due to verbal and assault she was forced to leave her taxi-driver partner. She left her children with him and relocated to Soweto to live with her younger sister, Ntombizodwa Kobese.
She is a proud mother of seven children including Thokozai, Simphiwe, Sbusiso, Busisiwe, Themba. She is also a mother to the twins Ayanonga and Abongile. She returned to school after giving birth to her second child following her parents’ pressure. Sannah then came back home with another pregnancy. To return to school was no longer on her agenda since her little sister was ahead of her in class.
She received her first Royalty Award for supporting actress in 2020 for her portrayal as Zodwa on Gomora.
