Celebrities in South Africa have a long history of donning bad wigs. While the hair industry has evolved over time, most of our rich and famous have yet to catch up with the rest of the world in terms of wig and weave fashion.
Ntando Zuma, an actress and TV presenter, is the latest local celebrity to be dragged over a crusty hair piece.
A screenshot of the actress wearing a wig with visible lace has gone viral. Many South African Twitter users have expressed their opinions.
Ntando Duma is currently trending on Twitter. This is due to a photo of her wig fail making its way onto the social media app.
The TV host has now joined the ranks of local celebrities such as Khanyi Mbau and Nadia Nakai. They were previously mocked for the poor quality of their wigs during the first season of Young Famous & African.
“What’s the deal with these wigs?” These are the most hideous wigs I’ve ever seen. I’m only 12 minutes into the first episode, but I’m horrified and traumatized. After seeing the wigs, American TikToker Champ Bailie wrote, “I’ll never put a wig on… ever again.”
Local social media users are now concerned that Americans will start trolling South African celebrities again after seeing Ntando’s photo.
“American Twitter should not see this nkosiyam,” one user wrote.
Her lace is clearly visible and haphazardly covered with foundation in the photo, which was taken at the premiere of Shaka Ilembe on Tuesday this week.
The actress was previously chastised for her choice of attire for Shona Ferguson’s funeral in 2021.
She went viral for wearing an inappropriately short skirt, according to many. Many people also chastised the mother of one of the attendees for taking photos at the event.
“Your skirt is too short for this occasion, Kodwa.” Couldn’t you wear something more appropriate for a lady in these circumstances? “Or you want attention even at a funeral,” a Twitter user said about the skirt.
