The family of musician Lehlogonolo Chauke, also known as Shebeshxt, has praised EFF leader Julius Malema for covering his medical bills after he was hospitalised following a vehicle crash that killed his nine-year-old daughter on Saturday.
Family representative James Magoro told TimesLIVE. Malema paid the medical fees after the family asked for assistance.
“Immediately after we were faced with this tragedy, we contacted him [Malema], and he was able to get Shebeshxt out of the public hospital and transferred to a private hospital within a few hours. Malema covered all the medical costs,” he said.
The rapper continues to recover in the hospital.Onthatile, his daughter, was in grade 3 at Polokwane’s Northern Academy.The family described Onthatile as “an angel.”.
“Our Northern Academy family is deeply affected by this loss,” the school said. “During this difficult time we extend our heartfelt condolences to Onthatile’s family, friends and those who knew her. Our thoughts and prayers are with them as they navigate this unimaginable loss.She was the angel who warmed our hearts. In this time of grief we appeal for your empathy, consideration, space and time to deal with this tragic news.”
Several of Shebeshxt’s fans have sent him condolences on the death of his daughter.
Videos of Shebeshxt and Onthatile singing and dancing together have quickly risen to the top of social media trends.Malema showed his support for Shebeshxt as the rapper performed at EFF election events.
