Three years later, in a shocking turn of events, Amanda’s father, William Manku, who is a police captain, was arrested and charged as the mastermind behind their murders.
During a recent Q&A session on her Instagram account, a follower inquired about Amanda’s emotional well-being since her father’s arrest. This tragic incident has undoubtedly had a profound impact on Amanda, and the revelation of her father’s alleged involvement has added a deeply personal and emotional layer to the already devastating situation.
As a public figure, Amanda’s openness about this matter demonstrates her resilience and her willingness to address the complexities of her personal life, even in the face of such heartbreaking circumstances. This level of transparency not only garners respect from her fans and supporters but also serves as a shining example of strength and authenticity in the public eye. By sharing her story with others, Amanda is breaking down barriers and fostering a community of understanding and empathy.
Amanda Manku replied:
“This question, I think it requires one to kind of dig deep in. I am okay. I think there is a lot going on in my personal life right now that if I was not strong, it could get me down, but I don’t have that option. Unfortunately, I don’t have the option to be weak. I don’t have the privilege of being weak. I have to be strong. There are some hectic things that I think a lot of people know about that have been in the limelight. Particularly is losing my parents and the aftermath of that but other than that we move,” Amanda said.
The arrest of Manku (53), his girlfriend Nonhlanhla Ngubo (42), and David Khoza (40) in January this year has garnered significant attention. Ngubo was later released, while Manku was denied bail and Khoza abandoned his. The pair have been in custody since their arrest and have been charged with a range of serious offenses, including conspiracy to commit murder, attempted murder, two counts of murder, defeating the ends of justice, and robbery with aggravated circumstances.
According to the investigation, Manku, who was a police officer at the Magatle Police Station, confessed to finding people to kill 70-year-old Maphuthuma and her 45-year-old daughter, who were shot dead while fetching water at a local tap. Manku claimed he drove the hitmen to the victims’ residence, and when the “job was done,” they informed him that they had killed two people instead of one. Manku’s bail application on new facts was recently postponed, and he expressed a desire to be released on bail to tender his resignation from the police force.
