The tragic case of Skeem Saam actress Amanda Manku’s family has taken a devastating turn, as her father, William, who is currently in custody for the alleged murder of her mother and grandmother, has revealed the struggling circumstances faced by his other children, according to Daily Sun.
During his bail application hearing at the Lebowakgomo Magistrates Court on Tuesday, June 25th, William testified that his incarceration and suspension from his job as a captain in the South African Police Service (SAPS) have led to a dire financial situation for his family.
He stated that his twins, Princess and Prince, as well as their older sister Amanda, came to visit him in the holding cells on Monday, June 24th, and delivered the heartbreaking news that they are now without water and electricity due to unpaid bills.
Moreover, William disclosed that he had been responsible for funding Princess’ studies, but the outstanding fees have put her education at risk, with the threat of her being expelled after the exams if the payments are not made. Additionally, William’s son has been receiving calls from the bank, informing him that the car he had been driving, which was paid for by his father, is at risk of being repossessed.
Adding to the family’s woes, William must also attend a disciplinary hearing at his job on July 9th, 10th, and 11th, further complicating his already precarious situation. While his twins have expressed a desire for him to be released on bail, his older daughter, Amanda, has made it clear that she wants the legal process to take its course, prioritizing justice over their personal circumstances.
The case has taken a tragic turn, with William’s incarceration and the resulting financial hardships faced by his remaining children serving as a sobering reminder of the far-reaching consequences of such devastating events. The fate of the Manku family remains uncertain, as the court weighs the complexities of William’s bail application and the pressing needs of his struggling children.
