Skeem Saam’s fans recently took to social media to react to actor and dancer Hungani Ndlovu, who plays the new Tbose Maputla,’s dance routines.
Viewers of Skeem Saam reacted to a video of actor Hungani Ndlovu’s dancing (who plays Tbose Maputla) in a TikTok video that was shared on Twitter on Friday, 7 July.
Hungani Ndlovu, the former Scandal! actor who took over the character of Thabo ‘Tbose’ Maputla in Skeem Saam, is also a dancer whose videos are frequently shared on social media.
A fan of the performance, @danny_dungi, tweeted a video of Ndlovu dancing and said, “This Tbos yena banna Aowa, even the dance is English” (Ths Tbose’s dancing is even in English).
Fans of the educative soapie have been comparing Ndlovu’s performance to that of Cornet Mamabolo, who both played Tbose Maputla.
While some fans have opted to give the actor another chance, others are unimpressed with his performance and believe he is too different from the original Tbose.
The first criticism occurred after his first encounter with his older brother Leeto (Eric Macheru), in which he greeted him in English and compared his interaction to the previous Tbose, who spoke Sepedi 90% of the time.
@kholoNdaba tweeted: “I lost it when he saw Leeto and he said “Hey bro” bathong (wow)! What happened “bhuti Leeto” maybe ke overseas re tla reng (maybe it’s an overseas thing).”
Fans of the soapie also realise that the new Tbose mixes Sepedi with English and concluded that this may have been done on purpose as the latest character was overseas and spoke English a lot more than the previous.
