Fans of Molefi Monaisa, who played Wallet on Skeem Saam, have wondered if he will return to our screens after leaving Skeem Saam.
His last appearance on the SABC1 soapie Skeem Saam was in a spelling bee competition episode in December 2021.
The 49-year-old actor Molefi Monaisa revealed to Drum in May 2021 that playing the role of Wallet in Skeem Saam has been one of the greatest pleasures of his career.
The fan-favourite character Wallet recites poetry on the hills on Turfloop, loves drinking tea, carries his briefcase everywhere and nails his British accent to perfection.

Monaisa says his character was as a writer, actor and director in his past life, who’s been all over the world and spent about eight or nine years in England and was a a native there in his mind.
“Even though he is well read and well-travelled, he squandered it all and had to return home to Turfloop. It is sad that there are people like him who end up sitting in townships with fancy degrees, but they drank themselves into poverty”.
“I remember when reading the script for the first time, I was like aah I know this guy. I know many of them. It is sad that people go through such hardship to end up like Wallet. A lot of the times their egos get the better of them and they do not listen to sound advice when they are squandering their wealth.”
What actor Molefi Monaisa is doing in 2023 is revealed to fans. Molefi Monaisa will return to Mzansi Magic’s new series #Kokota.
The actor will be joining a new drama series, Kokota, to be premiered on Mzansi Magic in September 2023.

Kokota tells the story of preacher’s son Tshepang (played by soap star, presenter and dancer Thato Dithebe), whose passion for music is as necessary as breathing. He decides to surf the irresistible Amapiano wave, despite his parents believing he is bringing shame to the family and church name.
“Mzansi Magic is dedicated to bringing stories our viewers can resonate with and that are in line with the world around us,” says Shirley Adonisi, Director of Local Entertainment Channels at M-Net. “Kokota is a magnificent embodiment of this: it’s a youth-centred story about one of the most impactful subcultures to come out of Africa. We can’t wait for our audience to be immersed in its world each Sunday night as it occupies the primetime slot.”

This is the story of South African youths – those who dare to dream beyond their circumstances and have the bravery to pursue those dreams, no matter the challenges in their way. In Kokota, it’s Piano over everything.
