Viewers of ‘Skeem Saam’ flocked to social media to compare Hungani Ndlovu and Cornet Mamabolo, who played Tbose Maputla.
It appears that not all Skeem Saam viewers were delighted with actor Hungani Ndlovu’s debut as Thabo ‘Tbose’ Maputla’s return to Turfloop on Monday, 3 July episode.
Skeem Saam fans took to social media to swap notes on the show’s character Tbose Maputla (formerly played by Cornet Mamabolo).
His debut was at Turfloop Hospital, where he met his wife Mapitsi (Mogau Paulina Motlatswi), mother Meikie (Harriet Manamela), father John (Africa Tsoai), and brother Leeto (Eric Macheru).
He greeted his wife and mother, and then there was a group hug. Viewers also noticed friction between Tbose and John, since he never greeted his father after not seeing him for months.
They were also unimpressed with his initial meeting with his older brother Leeto, in which he greeted him in English, when compared to the previous Tbose, who spoke Sepedi 90% of the time.
@kholoNdaba tweeted: “I lost it when he saw Leeto and he said “Hey bro” bathong (wow)! What happened “bhuti Leeto” maybe ke overseas re tla reng (maybe it’s an overseas thing).”
Fans of the soapie also noticed that he blended Sepedi and English and concluded that this was done on purpose because the most recent Tbose Maputla went overseas and spoke English a lot more than the prior.
@Jabu_Macdonald: “Meikie looks shocked because Tbose came back with an American accent.”
@tsheko2020: “Tbose ono tsena ka English ‘how is he’.”
@XolaniNgcobo167: “Tbose is really coming back from America, I mean can you hear the accent?”
@Tbattisse: “Arch Tbose wa gore ” this is unacceptable ” Wa kgale be a tlo nore ‘lea nya’.”
