Vusi Kunene, best known for his roles as Jack Mabaso in Generations and House of Zwide, made his Mzansi Magic debut in Shaka Ilembe on Sunday, August 6, 2023.
DStv confirmed last week that House of Zwide actor Vusi Kunene will star alongside Thembinkosi Mthembu, who plays King Dingiswayo Shaka Ilembe.
Kunene appeared in the drama series Sunday, 6 August, and he impressed many fans yesterday by speaking Tsonga proficiently.
When it comes to dialogue, (& this in not even about the fact tht he nailed xiTsonga), Vusi Kunene is supreme. He portrayed what I think is the most believable character of the series. The other actors are “acting their roles” but he lives in role he was given! #ShakaiLembeMzansi
Kunene’s fans praised and congratulated him on social media.Talented actor Lemogang Tsipa, who plays the older Shaka in the series also announced on social media that he is about to make his highly anticipated debut.
Vusi Kunene is a legend; he killed every role he played, and he really knows the game. Fans on social media really appreciate his acting skills, and last night on Shaka Ilembe, he surprised many, and we can’t wait to see his acting skills more.
One thing about Vusi Kunene, he’s such a versatile actor. Him speaking Tsonga!!! Now, that’s a cherry on top 🙌🏾 #ShakaiLembeMzansi
Tsipa, who plays the older Shaka Zulu, while rising star Ntando Zondi plays the younger King Shaka, wrote: “Excited for this coming Sunday uShaka uyakhula” (Shaka is growing).
Vusi Kunene, a Shaka Ilembe actor, left Generations in 2021 to star in e.tv’s fashion drama House of Zwide as fashion designer Funani Zwide.
In the episode, Funani is married to Faith Zwide (Winnie Ntshaba), the founders of the House of Zwide fashion and textile business.
Funani sought for divorce after learning that Faith had stabbed his late wife Busi in the neck with scissors, resulting in her death.
He also found out that she hid his daughter, Ona (Zobuhle Zwide played by Nefisa Mkhabela) from him, who was raised by Isaac Molapo (Jeffrey Sekele) in Tembisa.
