A fan attempted to steal the Springboks Trophy during the Cape Town leg of the Springboks Trophy Tour. The fans, on the other hand, dealt with them quickly!
The Webb Ellis trophy will be returned to South Africa following the Springboks’ exploits in France on October 28th, 2023. The Boks defeated their archrivals, New Zealand’s All Blacks, in a tight match to become World Champions of rugby for the fourth time.
The festivities have been in full flow around the country, but one “fan” went too far when they attempted to physically take matters into their own hands—in all the wrong ways.
The Springboks Trophy Tour ended up in Cape Town on Friday, where they were greeted by huge crowds from all around the city. For the whole day, fans could be heard from the City Bowl to the suburbs.
When things are so busy, it’s possible for a few things to go unnoticed, which sadly leads to opportunists trying their luck in South Africa. When things are busy, robbers usually target small items like phones and wallets. Someone chose to strive a little higher.
Video footage of a stranger in the crowd trying to steal Webb Ellis has gone viral, and once fans noticed what he was up to, they instantly turned on the man and called him to order.
Sad to say, many were disgusted to witness such behavior on what was supposed to be an exciting occasion. Fans slammed the would-be robber on social media, sending nasty comments such, “No man these Cape Town pharas are uncultured.” Another couldn’t believe it, commenting, “When you’re a thief, you’re a thief.” You can’t stop yourself!
