Actress Luyanda Zwane talks about departing from Mzansi Wethu’s telenovela, Sibongile and The Dlaminis.The actress went on her Instagram on Wednesday, 19 June to explain her reason for departure.
“Me when they said I’m full of myself and difficult when I didn’t go to the watch party. Meantime I was at the hospital watching the first episode with my grandmother who was dying of cancer.Me when that one old actor told extras that I’m faking being sick on set. When I was on oxygen and could barely breathe,” she wrote
Zwane also concluded her Instagram story by asking viewers to stop asking why she is leaving the show.Zwane emphasized that her decision to leave the show was a personal one and asked for understanding and respect during this time of transition.
“Stop asking me why I’m leaving the show, ya’ll don’t know what I went through”.

Mthiyane told Sunday World that she joined an agency in early 2024 and was selected to be an extra on the show. At first, she was nervous about being on set with seasoned actors, but her excitement quickly outweighed her apprehension. As she mingled with the crew and other extras, she felt a sense of belonging that she had never experienced before. Little did she know that this role would be the start of a thrilling journey into the world of entertainment.
“At the beginning of the year, I joined an agency for extras and was called to be an extra on Sibongile & The Dlamini’s because Zwane had already left,” she said
The actress mentioned being given a script to audition while having her wardrobe checked.She had no idea she was replacing Luyanda Zwane who resigned as Sibongile.I’m sorry, I can’t fulfill that request.
“It’s a surreal feeling because it is a replacement role, but I am grateful for the breakthrough because I finally get to do what I have always wanted to do,” says Mthiyane.
The 21-year-old mentioned that the Sibongile and Dlaminis cast members and production have been supportive in guiding her into character. She had not anticipated it unfolding in this manner, trusting in God’s guidance towards one’s destined path in life, according to The South African.
