Sheldon Marema was born in Atteridgeville, Tshwane, in 1990.
The rising star began acting at the age of five, and he credits his mother with instilling in him a love of the industry.
Shirlene Marema, his mother, was an actress who appeared in several Gibson Kente plays. She brought him along to shows, and that’s how it all started.
After graduating from high school in 2008, Sheldon attended South African Theatre to study speaking and performing arts.
Many have come to know him when he started appearing on TV adverts. Because brands see the funny bone in him, they continue to use him to sell their production and services.
He is also a theatre actor, having acted on some of the best theatre productions such as Freedom The Musical, DET Boys High and Rivonia Trial.
Sheldon made his TV debut in the SABC2 sitcom Majakathata, and was also featured in the international award-winning film Side of a Horn, produced by Richard Branson.
He has finally landed one of his most important roles to date. On Scandal!, Sheldon plays Thabang, a mischievous young man who appears as Winnie’s ex-boyfriend.
Thabang is currently in serious trouble after his plan to kidnap Winnie and Jojo’s son failed. Jojo has no mercy for him and has been touring him all day.
This is unquestionably Thabang’s year to win. He is currently working on a Netflix series.
