Luyanda Shezi, who plays a young woman named Lungile on Diep City, is nothing like the girl she portrays on the soap.
The 26-year-old actress plays a teenager who’s been through a lot of trauma, such as kidnapping and torture.Unfortunately, the soap was canceled, and we can’t wait to see her acting skills on other TV shows.
Luyanda was born on November 7, 1996, in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal. She told Drum Magazine that she always ran around the house singing, dancing, and acting out some imaginary circumstances when she was a child but wanted to be a lawyer when she grew up.
She currently holds a Bachelor of Arts in Forensic Criminology and Law from the University of KwaZulu-Natal. The actress is grateful to have supportive parents who encouraged her to pursue acting even though she almost became a lawyer. She was determined to become an attorney but realized that she had the burning urge to become a performer.
“I had a dream. I dreamt that my guardian angel was letting me know that I should have confidence in my acting career. After that, I saw that Mandla N was looking for actors, and I decided to audition. And I was picked for the role.”
The actress talks highly of her parents, although she has yet to introduce them to the public. She credits them for pushing her to pursue acting.
The actress has not been romantically linked to any man. She is probably single or good at keeping her private life away from the prying media.
The actress’s exact net worth is not known. Various sources estimate it at between $100,000 and $1 million in 2023. She ditched her Criminology studies to pursue an acting career.
