Uzalo’s woes continue to mount on the cast and its producers who are still working tirelessly to ‘get it right once again’.
Gone are the days when Uzalo was fans’ most loved show that broke records monthly with increasing number of viewers.
When the show came on the small screens, there was hope in many that more quality content from new faces in the industry was to be the order of the day.
Uzalo has turned to nothing but one the most hated shows on SABC1 – this, despite maintaining its number one spot with a huge number of viewers than any other show on the channel.
Some blame its team of writers who are not open to criticism or new ideas on social media.
In 2020, the SABC heard the cries of the people and issued a firm warning to Uzalo to improve their storyline.
Actors on the show are getting very low salaries, which may explain their poor performances. An executive from the SABC spoke to the publication and said:
We urged the producers to come up with creative storylines to rescue the soapie because it was important to the SABC. Another thing we emphasised was that actors need to be paid decent salaries for their work”
Uzalo still remains at the top of the most watched shows in the country mostly due to the fact that it airs on SABC for free.
