Exciting news, folks! Cebolenkosi Mthembu, the talented actor you might know as Detective Nyawo from the hit soap opera Uzalo, is gearing up for an incredible adventure. Mark your calendars for 17 September 2024, because this guy is jetting off to Dubai to strut his stuff on an international stage! 🎭
Our boy Cebolenkosi is about to grace the stage in a thought-provoking theatre play titled Umland’ Omusha (Celebrating 30 Years of Democracy), which is set to unfold on 20 September. This isn’t just a personal achievement; it’s an opportunity for him to represent Mzansi in the heart of the UAE, and he couldn’t be happier. “I can’t wait to fly to Dubai to showcase my acting talent,” he said. Talk about a dream come true!
Born and raised in Manguzi, KZN, Cebolenkosi’s not just your average actor — he’s a seasoned performer and a radio DJ. He’s thrilled about the chance to share Mzansi’s rich history through his character, Mkhulu Ndaba, who recounts stories about democracy. “This is amazing. I’ll be telling our story abroad. I’m honoured,” he shared. Fans of Uzalo may know him for his strong stage presence and wordplay, and he plans to bring that same energy to Dubai. “Most of my fans know me on TV. They don’t know that I can act in theatre too,” he added. It seems he’s ready to show the international audience just what he’s made of!
The play is directed by Msizi Mnyandu and will take place at the Roxy Cinemas in Dubai Hills. Cebolenkosi reflects fondly on his theatre roots, noting, “My last theatre acting was when I was still a student at Mangosuthu University of Technology many years ago.” It’s fantastic to see him returning to his theatrical roots, especially for such an important cause.
But that’s not all! When he returns home, get ready for a musical treat! Cebolenkosi is set to release an amapiano track titled Unequivocally iVay Vay, featuring Csana Mlaza. “This is not my first track. Actually, I’m a musician,” he explained. A remix of a song he loved from 2010, he’s excited to share his music with fans, declaring, “Anyone who can dance will enjoy it. I don’t know how I’ll dance to it because I can’t dance.” Classic Cebolenkosi — focusing on the fun and enjoyment of his fans!
With production by Dust Nkosi, he plans to release this gem under Snetech Media, promising it’ll get the party started. 🎉
So, as we count down the days until Cebolenkosi takes the stage in Dubai, let’s cheer him on and remember that this is more than just a trip — it’s a celebration of Mzansi’s rich culture and talent made international. We can’t wait to see what he accomplishes next! ✈️🌍
