Gqom’ queen Babes Wodumo, real name Bongekile Simelane, appears to have responded to rumors that she is fighting for her life.
On Thursday, July 13, the reality TV personality posted a video to Instagram of herself seated in a car, singing along to the beat she was playing.
Babes Wodumo breaks into song in the video, clearly mocking all the unwelcome attention she receives.
She sings in the song about how she would have turned down stardom if she had been told about its drawbacks.
Last week, the Wololo hitmaker’s fans began offering prayers after IsiZulu publication Isolezwe reported that the musician was severely ill.
The publication said again over the weekend that their sources revealed that Babes is in and out of the hospital for an unidentified reason. According to sources, Babes is gravely unwell and has shortness of breath.
According to another account, her spouse Mampitsha’s death had taken its toll on her.
The Big Nuz group member passed away on 24 December after suffering a mini stroke. The couple has one child together, a 2-year-old baby boy named Hlelolenkosi “Sponge” Maphumulo.
According to a third source, the Shut Up And Groove hitmaker missed several gigs she was booked for including the Durban July and Cotton Fest Durban.
Nondumiso Simelane, Babes’ sister and manager, claims that she is in good health. She said that the star was unable to attend the Durban festivities because she was performing outside of the country.
“We missed the event due to our return flight home, but we informed the organizers of both events, and they understood the situation.”
“Babes Wodumo is in excellent health.” Perhaps their assumption is based on her social media silence. “She’s currently working on two albums, her own and Mampintshas,” Nondumiso explained.
Furthermore, she stated that her sister is in charge of Mampintsha’s companies as well as his alcoholic drinks, Original Shandis Gin and Vodka.
