Former ‘Generations: The Legacy’ actor Vuyo Dabula and fitness guru, Nonhle Jali have secured roles in SABC1’s soapie ‘Uzalo’.
On Thursday, 14 September, entertainment pundit Mlu reported on X that Vuyo Dabula and fitness instructor Nonhle Jali had been cast in the SABC1 soapie Uzalo.
Jali will play Thandiswa, a businesswoman with high aims and a taste for risk, according to Mlu, while Dabula will play Bentley Majozi.
Nonhle, who was once married to soccer star Andile Jali, is no stranger to television, having previously been on Diski Divas
Uzalo viewers believe Dabula has taken the role of actor Wiseman Mncube, who recently left the show as Sibonelo.
Mncube, who has been with the soapie since season five, has landed a starring part in Mzansi Magic’s next drama, My Brother’s Keeper.
Dabula, who played a charming villain named Kumkani “Gaddafi” Phakade in Generations: The Legacy, has landed roles in Entangled and Unseen since departing the show in December 2021.
SABC1’s soapie Uzalo, which has over 5 million viewers and is South Africa’s most-watched TV show, has apparently been extended for another season.
The show, which is in its ninth season, includes former The Queen actress Sibusisiwe Jili, The Wife star Lindah Majola, Isibaya star Thembi Nyandeni, Masoja Msiza, and many others.
According to the Broadcasting Research Council of South Africa (BRCSA) August 2023 data, Uzalo, a Durban-based soapie, received over 5 million viewers, with Skeem Saam coming in second with over 4 million viewers.
