Today, the controversial rapper Lehlogonolo ‘Shebeshxt’ Chauke laid his daughter to rest after she tragically passed away in an accident. Onthatile Gladys Chuene, who was 8 years old, was buried at Chauke’s home in Lebowakgomo, Limpopo.
Shebeshxt arranged with the hospital where he was receiving treatment to be discharged so that he could attend his daughter’s burial. The daughter was laid to rest in a white casket with Disney’s Frozen animation on it, and the funeral was attended by family and close friends.
Shebeshxt wrote a touching note to his daughter, expressing the immense loss her passing has brought to their lives. He mentioned that the void left by her absence is profound and that they may never fully recover from it. He also expressed a deep longing to wake up from the nightmare of her death and see her face again, hear her voice, and feel her love for her parents wholeheartedly.
Shebeshxt was involved in a car accident that landed him in ICU. Provincial Department of Transport and Community Safety spokesperson Tidimalo Chuene confirmed that the accident happened on the R37 near the Smelters Mine outside Polokwane in Limpopo on his way to a gig at around 10 pm. His car reportedly overturned after colliding with a truck killing his daughter and seriously injuring the rapper and another passenger.
The police are still investigating the cause of the accident. This week, the Changura rapper was discharged from hospital to attend his daughter’s funeral. A close friend of the musician says his wife Kholofelo Chuene has not been able to eat and speak since the accident happened. “She is not okay and was given medication to calm down. She has not been able to eat. We hope she gets through this because she has endured a lot.”
This is not the first time Shebeshxt has been involved in a car accident. The self-titled ‘President ya ma 2000’ explained what transpired when he had the previous accident. He said he was in traffic, and a fan overtook other cars to try and take a selfie with him. “He overtook other cars and stopped right in front of my car,” he said. “I crashed into his car. What was I supposed to do, fly over his car? Now I am the one that is at fault,” he explained.
