Xolani Khumalo, the host of Sizok’thola, is set to appear at Palm magistrate’s court on Tuesday on a murder charge.
Khumalo surrendered to the Katlehong North police station on Tuesday morning.
The Moja Love presenter was asked to hand himself up in a statement made by his organization, The Xolani Khumalo organization.
“The South African Police Service has requested that Xolani Khumalo hand himself over in connection with an incident that occurred at one of the last drug busts. Xolani Khumalo and the team operated according to the strictest standards of professionalism when engaged in securing accountability from those that sell drugs and choose to harm communities,” the statement read.
In July, the presenter was placed at the center of the death of an alleged drug dealer, Robert “Kicks” Varrie, who died shortly after a visit from Khumalo and his television crew while filming an episode of Sizok’thola.
Khumalo shared the experience on his social media page when he handed himself in to the police.
Nonzwakazi Cekete, a spokesman for Moja Love, stated that the channel has been notified that Khumalo will surrender to police on Tuesday morning.
“We are aware that he is handing himself in to the police, and the matter is sub-judice, and we will await the outcome of the court,” Cekete added.
